No, not on a wide basis. There are certain positions in
certain fields where the PE license becomes important,
for example heading up a construction project, or hanging
out your professional shingle as a consulting or forensic
engineer. But for most engineering projects the lead
engineers or managers don't have to hold the licenses,
they just hire one or two people onto staff who do, or
bring in people from outside to review and sign off if a
licensed signature is required.
