Generally, I pick a dictionary and stick with it, so that I don't have
to worry over every hyphenation issue that comes up. I like
Merriam-Webster: <http://www.merriam-webster.com/>
If you want to be a trend-setter, you can ignore the dictionary.
However, Google shows about 5 million hits for "onscreen", vs. 45
million hits for "on-screen". So the vast majority of usage (at least
online, and therefore probably in print) is still "on-screen".
