FrameMaker's strong points are in handling large-ish, complex, text-heavy
publishing projects. InDesign, PageMaker, Quark and their ilk (even
Microsoft Publisher in a limited way) are designed mainly for smaller,
graphics-intensive jobs.

FrameMaker will give good brochure, but if you're going to be doing a lot of
them you'll be happier with a purpose-built app.

I've done glossy brochures with Word (most people think I'm fibbing when I
show them the finished product), but, as you would on a really bad blind
date, you need patience, determination and a forgiving nature for that to
work.

Expensive tools won't make you a good designer. The right tools make the job
easier, but if you know what you're trying to achieve, you can still do
surprising things with the wrong tools.
