Duh! Seek out a reputable eBay "merchant" and not a used-camel dealer.
There are a number there on eBay who pick up and resell unregistered,
legal copies of proprietary software.
It's not vitally important for most to have the latest version of the
software used by TW/TEs. One tack for those without some relatively
expensive software would be to wait until new upgrades are released and
then purchase the older versions of whatever software one doesn't yet
have. I have never been burnt acquiring legal, able-to-be-registered
proprietary software that way. I usually upgrade those purchases through
the usual channels, though--usually one or two upgrades later, depending
on the time between upgrades.
