I was thinking of "pods" more along the lines of
triffids or "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" (fictional
life forms that evolve in places where science as we
know if does not exist).

I think it is an uncalled for slight to alien engineers. If there are
any aliens who are knowledgeable about humans, I wonder if they say
