I suppose one could be totally objective in this line of work, but then how
would you prove that the documentation you wrote for ZYX company was yours
and not from someone else?

No, it is the personality that you infuse into the document that causes
clients to offer you repeat business. It is your style that they want
because you've proven to them that your documentation is worth it.
