My understanding is that this particular title applies specifically to one who writes user instructions. Like how to operate your
new toaster...software installation and operation...how to care for your new Barbie. I'm not entirely convinced that such a
sub-categorization is necessary, but there's no accounting for business' mania for classification.
A few years ago I went looking for the title for such a person, and this is what kept turning up.
btw...my dad was a "Documentation Specialist" for General Dynamics...he wrote manuals for the maintenance and launching of ICBMs.
Darned if I couldn't never get him to say much about it.
