RE: "Opportunistic"

As a child of the 80s, I think my first introduction to the word was via
"opportunistic infection" a la HIV AIDS. I'm not sure I can ever hear it
without that connotation. 

I don't say this is true of everyone, but as I've watched the
discussion, nothing has really dissuaded me from this. 

It wouldn't be the first (or the last) thing ruined by that epidemic.
