I do that all the time. Sometimes, even when you tell the search
engine to not include certain terms, you still have to wade through a
couple of pages to find useful information. If I've run a couple of
searches and not been able to figure out any additional keywords to
narrow my results, I'll often skim through at least the first ten
pages of results.
And before you tell me that my search engine skills are poor, let me
tell you, my Google Fu is very good. I spent several years working at
a bookstore, where I learned search engine skills that let me find
that "blue book about planes" that someone was talking about on a TV
sometime last week. Plus, I have some rather obscure hobbies and I'm
curious about everything, so I spent a fair amount of my free time
researching random odd things. Last weekend, just for giggles, I was
looking for information about how to make ballet tutus. How to's for
that closely guarded trade secret didn't show up anywhere in my first
several pages of search results, although I'm sure there must be
something out there on the Web, I just decided that I wasn't
interested enough to find them.
