Subject: RE: Help with RoboHelp
Hi Will,
Thanks for your help with the RoboHelp situation. We saved the published HTM
files created in Captivate with the other RoboHelp files on my peer's hard
drive and created a link on a new page of HTML in RoboHelp. The Elearning
menu was created using Captivate Menu Builder which has links to all of the
published Elearning modules.
We assumed that if the files we need to upload on the RoboHelp server were
saved with the other RoboHelp files which create our companies internal
website (CPP101) that these files would upload to the RoboHelp server
automatically when we publish CPP101. However, after publishing we are still
having issues accessing the Elearning page that contains the link for the
Elearning menu.
Do you know if this is caused by the fact that when I linked the published
HTM Elearning modules to the Elearning menu it took on the extension of the
root of the link? Because I was linking and publishing via the S drive,
otherwise known as out internal network. And now we have saved it on her
hard drive.
I do not quite understand our IT department.they keep speaking of a RoboHelp
server but my peer who publishes updates to CPP101 is housing about 3,000
pages of HTML directly on her hard drive which is backed up on her personal
data storage on the network.
I don't think this is the most effective way to save this 3,000 page
RoboHelp menu. I mean if something goes wrong with her system we could be
having some issues. Not too mention, it takes about 20 minutes for the
CPP101 to open for editing view in RoboHelp.
I am very confused, any advice?
Thanks,
Tera B.

Hi Tera,
Thanks for asking for advice.
It sounds like your target audience can see the RoboHelp system, but not the
published Captivate files. If this is the case, then how about inserting
the Captivate files into the RoboHelp system? RoboHelp will accept all kinds
of things within its HTML environment.
You might also consider asking the TECHWR-L community for advice.
(http://www.techwr-l.com/) There are a few RoboHelp Guru's in there.
Be seeing you,
Will

Subject: Help with Robohelp
Hi there my name is Tera Bisceglia and I am a Training Specialist and
Elearning Developer for CPP North America, LLC.
I developed Elearning modules created in Captivate 3 and published as HTM. I
ran in to a road block recently and the agents in our internal call center
are not able to view the Elearning project because they have thin clients
computers without hard drives and the HTM files are rooted to our internal
network and then linked to RoboHelp.
Our IT department was unsuccessful in testing configuration to map the
network drive to the thin clients because thin client PCs have no memory.
My question to you is... it possible to upload the published HTM Elearning
Menu (HTM) on to the RoboHelp server which includes links to the Elearning
modules?
We do not have someone in-house that is a RoboHelp expert and we are in
desperate need of some advice.
Thank you,
Tera Bisceglia
