Isn't "consider your audience" the first thing they teach in Tech
Writing?
At any rate, here we have a prime and lovely example of "the flounce,"
captured in the wild. I'm more used to the American Extended Adolescent
Flounce, which involves fewer words, more of them made of 4 letters, and
rarely involves headings and sub-points. However, this American Academic
Flounce, while wordier, resembles its cousin in many ways: appeal to
authority, wounded expression of not being appreciated, and reference to
another, similarly underappreciated former group member who, although
he/she left quietly (without flounce), reportedly holds the same views
as the flouncer.
