More mistakes that the better writers try to avoid ...
- The belief that using spell-checking software makes proofreading
unnecessary.
- Failure to re-write for clarity unless one is Isaac Asimov. (He
claimed to be able to do clear writing in a single pass.)
- Believing the stuff on the data sheet or the design spec without
checking it against reality.
- Not testing the newly written operating instructions on a suitably
naive reader.
- Giving in to the SME who says, "Stop finding bugs in my code!"
- Forgetting that "first to market" sometimes trumps all of the above.
("We don't want it right. We want it Monday!")
