The potential bright spot in the darkness is that the company is the party that
initiated contact, even though the candidate presumably didn't have the magic
bullet tool listed in her CV. This probably means there's a discussion going on
("she doesn't have THE tool" vs. "she has everything ELSE we need, she can learn
the tool"), and there's at least one person there who eiher is or could become
her internal champion for the position. The thing she needs to do is identify
that person, and rather than attempt to present a tools vs. skills argument to
the person/s hung up on the tool (which will be unpersuasive coming from the
candidate), get the ammo into the hands of the person in the company who is NOT
hung up on the tool.
