Adding my 2c: http://meta-extractor.sourceforge.net/ says it handles PDF metadata
extraction, and has a CLI for automation/batch processing. It might
take a little time to get it working. If I had to do this task, I'd
try and take the output XML files and apply regular expressions to
find the filename and creation date in the XML, and then build up a
rename/mv command that would do the actual renaming. Output the
constructed commands to a .bat file, and then invoke the batch file.
At least, that's what I'd try.
