TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
And perhaps it's not fully relevant, but I'm suddenly reminded of Søren Kierkegaard's famous comment to his parents, "I am a fork, and I will stick you!" Not that WE would ever be guilty of, um, prodding anyone.... :)

I've always claimed that my double major in Philosophy was the perfect training for becoming a software tech writer.
Software systems don't really exist ... sure, everyone SAYS they're zeroes and ones on a whirling magnetic disc, but has anyone ever SEEN it?
Philosophers are well trained in the ability to hold complex, self-conflicting systems of non-corporeal concepts in our minds. After all, once you can assimilate Kant's theories on Phenomenology, what challenge is there in doing the same thing for an operating system?
My 2¢,
John Garison
