Gene is correct. My staff, when I had one, all telecommuted, but they were
also all local. We document complete systems (hardware and software). If a
system was available, someone could be there to get screenshots, tweak
procedures, and so on. Currently, I am back to the lone writer status (I'm
my own manager), and I have a regular time schedule at the corporate offices
with at least have of my work week in my home office. I am always available
via email, landline or cell phone, and I can change my schedule at my
convenience. It's a good gig, but I also work very hard at ensuring that the
"powers-that-be" know I am not abusing the opportunity. That is why I am
working while the rest of the company takes a holiday.... deadlines,
deadlines, deadlines.....
