In our software it's called a slider, which I always thought was also a mystery term that had to be learned anyway. (I wouldn't have said the areas slide around but that's what others use to describe it)
No customers have complained about it. It's all through the customer-visible docs.

Subject: Another name for Accordion in Help (developed in Flare)
Hi All, I am working on an online Help project and my client does not like the terminology "Accordion Bar" for the bottom left bar which has icons that change content from the TOC to Index, Glossary, or Search. Users can click and drag the icon bar up and this changes the icons to buttons with text that read Contents, Glossary, Index, or Search, depending on how far I drag the bar up. In Flare this is called an Accordion. I have no idea what else to call it but my client feels that the name Accordion is a play on part of the name of their software which just happens to include the word "Accordance" SO.... Any suggestions? Thanks! Deborah
