Ernest: runs/uses the product and documents the reality
Scribbler: believes the developer who tells him how the product should work

E: defines the outline based on what the target audience needs to accomplish
S: massages what the developer wrote (editing and formatting), without considering whether the material is relevant or not and in what sequence

E: determines what is the best way to present the material (text, table, color, illustration)
S: just writes on auto-pilot

E: strives for improvement within the timeframe allotted
S: repeats the usual 'because we've always done it like this'

E: discusses and shares with other team members
S: keeps everything to himself

E: shows genuine curiosity, appreciation and enthusiasm for the developer's work
S: endlessly whines about not getting enough SME time

E: adheres to and explains company writing standards to SMEs
S: frequently agrees with SMEs that products are special and beyond company standards

E: happy to get new assignments because of the opportunity to learn something new
S: documenting the 275th version of the product he knows makes him happy

E: performs the admin aspects of the job
S: explains why he didn't
