I would advise against this. Don't even raise the possibliity. Too many
companies don't care about proper software licensing until they get caught.
After they do, there will inevitably be someone blamed for it, and three guesses
who that will be.
If you are "inheriting" the responsibility for ID documents, then let your
management know you will also need to "inherit" the tools being used by the
current resource. If the tools are not in budget, then suggest using demos to
convert to tools you have at the cost of losing the original ID formats and let
your management make the decision.

My advice would be to download a crack and maintain the source documents
with it. If the company is too cheap to purchase a program that you need in
order to do the work they give you, then they can compare the cost of the
software with the legal fees to deal with the piracy case should this action
ever get caught.
