changing multiple partial file names Windows Vista
Subject:changing multiple partial file names Windows Vista From:Ken Poshedly <poshedly -at- bellsouth -dot- net> To:Techwr-l <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Mon, 15 Nov 2010 08:48:13 -0800 (PST)
Before I create my parts book in FrameMaker 8.0, I need to _partially_ change
the machine model in the over 60 files that will go into this book.
Current file names are "SRC660 (unique parts assembly name).fm"
Desired new file should be "SRC550 (unique parts assembly name).fm"
Windows Vista (that's what they use here and it ain't gonna change) allows total
filename changes followed by a sequential number within parentheses, thus all
renamed files take on the total name of the first renamed file followed by a
(1), then a (2) and so on.
That is obviously not gonna work here.
Is anybody aware of a freeware product that allows replacement of _only specific
characters_ within multiple filenames?
