I'm a big fan of Win Patrol
(http://www.filehippo.com/download_winpatrol/8769/), Monique. Free
version is excellent and has sufficed for me. Lets you see and control a
lot of things. And it's easy to undo a change if you change your mind.
If you're working with the factory install, you might also want to take
a hard look at what programs you'll really be using and then a
speculative look at PC Decrapifier http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/ to see
whether it might be appropriate for some right-off-the-bat streamlining.
Good luck :)
Jim

Subject: PC startup management programs - Win 7 ?
Yes, I finally did it -- started installing apps on my new Win 7 PC! So
far so good, with Microsoft Office and Adobe CS and TC suites seemingly
all updated and ok.
So now I'll want to configure the machine for a quicker boot up, and
want to avoid the old msconfig equivalent in favor of a less error-prone
approach. This site has reviews of a few programs: http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-startup-manager.htm.
But, does anyone have any favorites or ones-to-avoid?
