TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Following on from Mike's point (which I endorse), I've frequently simply refused to buy from sites that don't tell me upfront what their accepted methods of payment are. Five times out of ten I go through the whole check out procedure only to find they don't take my preferred method of payment (usually PayPal). Ten times out of ten that means I won't buy from them via a less preferred method just out of frustration. If they'd said up front (before checkout) I'd have a whole better attitude to buying from them any way I could.
Book and software sellers seem to be the worst culprits, but that could be just because these are the items I most often shop online for. :D
