Is it a requirement that you continue to use FrameMaker? We use Flare here and single-source multiple PDF documents and our Help files (CHM and WebHelp) out of the same source files. The process has worked great for us. If you are not absolutely tied to Frame, I would suggest considering moving to Flare entirely. The fewer tools you have, the simpler the process, fewer templates and experts you need to maintain and author in them.
