I was amused by Al's earlier description of the distraction of "manuals that
used fancy edges, marching ants, and a host of other "special" effects".
It reminded me of myself with fonts. There were years of having to content
self with courier, times roman and arial as nothing else was available.
And then a flood of faddy and fabulous calligraphic looking fonts arrived in
Word. I must have lost hours maybe days of work, playing with them all and
trying to figure out ways to "sensibly" slip them into documents. But I
couldn't sell anyone else on having them in their documents. So it was all
very futile but lots of fun.
