Two thoughts on Monster:
1. I lucked out on Monster about 14 years ago and landed a part-time gig
that, except for a couple of hiatuses, I've kept ever since.
2. Based on what I've read and seen, my experience is probably not
representative -- in effect, I hit the lottery. And, too, bear in mind
that it's a part-time job: It's not what pays most of the bills.
I would invest very little time there. Your time would be better spent
in the techniques Nic Corcodilos of "Ask the Headhunter" fame describes
in his books, free weekly newsletter, and web site, http://www.asktheheadhunter.com/

i didn't know about Dice.com - thanks for the reference.
There's only one tech writer job listed for SE Michigan, and that's
calling for web development skills too, and DreamWeaver - I used a very
early version of DW, but that was pre-CSS. They also want JavaScript,
which lets me out; I'm not a programmer. Broadening the description of
what I'm looking for, they all want programming abilities in addition to
tech documentation. Is this common?
oh, well. It's a good resource to keep checking!
does anyone here have any feelings about monster.com?
