Re: Good Old (Tech) Days....WAS "Can this career be saved?"
I started my TW career on XyWrite. I HATED it. Fresh out ofWHA . . . ! A pox upon you sir! XyWrite was the great love of my life. I did buckets of work with that editor. I had that customized up the ying-yang (as opposed to Ying and Yang). I still use it for editing text, run it in DOSBox. To this day, there are NO editors that have the flexibility of that one. There are no real columnar defines, there are no Save/Gets, there are no "move to next/previous sentence", "move to next/previous paragraph". AND, there is nothing that comes close to the search and replace of that thing.
college, who wanted to input tags to write? Plus, it was just plain
ugly.

I could change all instances of a set of strings with the literal in it so that it took the literal out, or some other crazy- -at- $$ thing.
-**SIGH**- I miss XyWrite!

Two years later, I started writing HTML and CSS. That, for some--
reason, made a whole lot more sense to me.

Who will join me inheaving a reminiscent sigh for XyWrite?
We used WordStar until anew resion came out that took something like 2 minutes to load (that is
to say, load from the floppy disk on the dual-drive IBM PC). We wrote a
nasty letter to the WordStar people and switched to XyWrite, which was
the coolest of the cool.
