I'd call it the power connector. Strictly it's a plug, but many people
think that a plug has to be on a cable, and I'm deliberately NOT going
down the male/female connector route :-)

Hi All,
It's the late hour, or early onset senility, or both:
On the back of a piece of hardware, I have a "receptacle" that the power
cord connects into... is the correct term "socket"? You then connect the
power cord to the power mains....
It's been ages since I documented hardware, but "receptacle" simply does
not seem like the correct terminology.
