Subject:Re: Tips on how to talk to SMEs From:Kerstin Peterson <kerstin -dot- peterson -at- gmail -dot- com> To:techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com Date:Wed, 13 Jul 2011 13:16:52 -0400
Some SMEs are engineers who have written code for a single feature. Some
have designed the company's UI and have inside-out knowledge of the product.
Others might be project managers to whom the product is but a spreadsheet.
Information is key....and don't be afraid to ask questions, join co-worker
groups in the cafeteria, and, yes, provide bribes.
My experience is that a bowl full of chocolate works wonders; in fact, I've
stationed said bowl inside an office doorway and grabbed and pulled "SME"
wrists as they reach into it......
