Re: alternatives to bifocals & reading glasses for computer use
I opted for a variation of the prescription reading glasses
approach. An old college friend of mine is a surgeon. He told me he has
a pair of glasses he only uses in the OR, as they are optimized for the
distance between his eyes and the patient on the operating table.
In Real Life(tm) I wear no-line trifocals. For computer work and for singing, I use no-line bifocals adjusted so that the lower part fits the distance from my eyes to the keyboard/monitor/music folder and the upper part matches the middle-distance part of my trifocals (roughly 4ft--16ft). This lets me focus on the faces of people on the other side of my desk, or the face/hands of a choral conductor.
