Subject:RE: New words - where have you found them? From:"Dan Goldstein" <DGoldstein -at- riverainmedical -dot- com> To:<techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Tue, 9 Aug 2011 11:24:42 -0400
They say, "Wordnik offers definitions from dictionaries old and new, but
its real advantage is its trove of example sentences pulled from sources
ranging from Twitter to newspaper articles."
So why can't their algorithm find the word in a common online
dictionary, if I can?
And why would they quote one of our greatest neologists, without
defining the word in question?

Pish tosh. Boo hoo. And all that.
You can always submit a definition. Wordnik scans the net, primarily
to catch when new words trend. While not against classic terms,
Wordnik favors the madeupical, as defined by neologists, so as to not to
compete with Erin McKean's beloved New Oxford American Dictionary.
I'm just a fanboy.
