Some time ago - long before LinkedIn - a headhunter presented me with his
idea of the "hang around factor" referring to the people that you worked
with that you would want to follow to another job and hang around with in a
professional sense.
I keep that in mind when I get requests for LinkedIn connections. If it's
someone I would want to work with again, I'll accept the offer. It's been a
good rule of thumb for me to follow.
I have frequently seen that types of people tend to congregate and that
often this can result in a rather toxic atmosphere that I wouldn't want to
be a part of. Those are worth avoiding at all costs.
