In over 14 years of tech writing, I have yet to be asked by an employer

Whoa, seriously? You can earn that slinging burgers at McDonald's around
here.
I know things are bad out there, but every time we get one of these
threads going I wonder what the world is coming to? Business demands
college educations for everything these days (bank tellers, file clerks,
etc.), but nobody wants to pay the wages required to pay off the student
loans you needed to get that $27K a year job.
