Subject: Job searching in this time of attrition....

As I said before, right now my personal bad luck has tainted my personality and possibly how I am presenting myself. I am trying to get a better look on things and hopefully I am making some progress.

It's hard to fight that attitude. I've been through more than my share of layoffs ("Tech writers? We don't need no stinkin' tech writers!" is a theme of my career) and taken jobs I wasn't crazy about, gotten jobs I really wanted, and not gotten jobs I've really wanted along the way.
To help fight the bad attitude, I like to look back on the whole interviewing/hiring process for each place I was hired and reflect on how my time there was. And it is the jobs where I was excited for it and they were just as excited about bringing *me* on were the best. Yes, rejection stinks, but I always ask myself "Would I really enjoy working someplace where they really didn't want to even hire me?" When I look back at ho-hum hiring's where I really thought I was more a warm body to fill a space than a highly desired member of the team, those jobs are the ones where I was actually relieved to finally get a pink slip.
If it is not a good fit, it stinks, but let it go and keep looking.
