I have nothing but sympathy for those who experienced it on the West
Coast, but the Silicon Valley bubble wasn't a nationwide phenomenon in
tech writing.

I'm pretty sure the chart for the 1990's showed a big peak during the
dot-com, with a drop of more than 5000 jobs during the period from
2000-2003, but the chart seems to have disappeared off the internet now.
On a local basis, anyone who was attending the Silicon Valley STC
meetings before, during and after the dot-com can tell you about
meetings that filled hotel conference facilities at the peak and
gatherings of two dozen people in 2003.
