Lauren,

It depends on the dialect of XML. If you're using one of the common tech comm XML schemas (e.g, DocBook or DITA), there are XSL stylesheets available that will do the conversion for you. But, each one has its own set of style sheets, so it really does depend on the schema of the XML document.
