TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I don't have any advice for you, but just wanted to congratulate you on
making a career change. As far as career progression goes, tech writing is
often a "dead end" job unless you move sideways or out of it. (There is the
possibility of moving up, but there aren't that many options for that as
there used to be.) It sounds like you've been able to step into something
new - which is fantastic! I wish you the very best as you move forward.
