I don't intend to come off as insensitive, and I don't mean to suggest that the closing of STC chapters isn't sad, but why do you say "sadly"? If chapters are closing, isn't it because they are not providing a good ROI for members? Why wouldn't we regard the closings as part of the "creative destruction" that is essential to capitalism? What are we losing (and I don't mean to say that we aren't losing something)? And more importantly, what could an organization for tech writers provide that the STC didn't/doesn't?
