Most authoring tools will export some sort of formatted output (RTF, MIF,
etc.). iAuthor gives you plain text only. It's the equivalent of Acrobat.
A specialized formatting tool that would be a PITA to try to repurpose
content out of.
Why not? Apple's EULA for iBook Author doesn't cover the content, just the
formatting created via its software. The content remains yours, but if you
want to transfer it to another platform you'll have to extract it and
re-format using QXP 9 or some other e-book creator. Either way, if you want
to sell your content via iBooks and any other platform, you'll have to
either re-format from some other platform for iBooks, or re-format from
iBooks to the other platform.
Six of one and half a dozen of the other, isn't it?
