if you really have dozens or hundreds of different fobs, identifying them
by color will become difficult because, while we as humans can percieve
millions of colors, we can't NAME millions of colors, especially when there
aren't that many "standard" color names (for example, paint companies spend
a huge amount of resources coming up with unique names for their various
shades) - unless you are listing the colors by hex code or CMYK or RGB
numbers - or Pantone numbers (which would elicit frustrated emails if not
death threats from your customer base).
There needs to be other indicators to separate these keys into functional
groups: Color *and* shape and other modifiers - as many as needed to
present a unique, individual appearance for each separate function.
Ideally, you'd allow your user to sort the keys based on any modifier (or
sequence of modifiers).
