TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Yes, of course. Everybody's seen that. If not on Wikipedia,
then on any of a dozen other Q&A sites. The logic is impeccable.
But that raises the question: why are there so many SQUARE
and rectangular manhole covers? (See my links)
And even more interesting to me, as a cyclist: why are sewer
and storm-drain gratings always rectangular. Given that they're
where I have to ride, I can assure anyone that they are also
frequently driven over by vehicles much larger and heavier
than me and my bike.
