Subject:one word, not "if", for "as long as" From:"Monique Semp" <monique -dot- semp -at- earthlink -dot- net> To:"TechWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com> Date:Mon, 23 Apr 2012 10:03:22 -0700
Ack; looking for a single word to mean âas long asâ or âso long asâ, but not if, which to me results in the wrong emphasis (reversal of dependent/dependency) in the following sentence:
âThe subdomains can be different as long as the top level domains are the same.â
My concern with âas long asâ is that itâs wordy and perhaps a bit of a colloquialism that might cause ESL readers to stumble over the sentence.
Ideas?
