I haven't worked with Restrict Style Formatting, but I wouldn't rely on it alone. I haven't investigated how it handles material pasted between documents.
Copying and pasting from other docs is tricky, especially if those docs have styles with the same names as your template styles.
You might want to look at the Word options for what to do with pasted text. You can find them in the Word Options under Advanced, in the section on Cut, Copy, and Paste.
Set the options for pasting between documents to Match Destination Formatting or Use Destination Styles (whichever is available in the pulldown for that option). Or consider setting them to Keep Text Only, which is the safest by far but requires more repair work after the paste.
If you're feeling dictatorial, you can replace Word's Paste Special command with a macro that pastes unformatted. Create a macro named PasteSpecial and make it paste unformatted. If you're feeling super-dictatorial do the same thing with Paste. The only pitfall with these is that they'll do very odd things or just fail if what's on the clipboard is not text.
