The most obvious solution is to pluralize all the statements.
Good students always do their homework.
If people ask you for help, give it to them.
When customers argue, always agree with them
Secretaries should keep their tempers in check.
Janitors should respect their employers.
All plumbers have their own tools.
Nurses should always be kind to their patients.
The specific OP was, IIRC, about what to do if this could not be done.
