Getting really, really tired of seeing WORD dissolve into snowy white, fading screens.

Configuration is:

WORD 2010 on Win 7. All my Adobe programs work great pretty much all the time, so
I'm pretty sure I've got an OK graphics card, decent processor and 12 GB of Ram.

When I want to insert a graphic into one of my 100+ page WORD files, a windows
opens up looking for a folder in......

Library > Pictures

That's a folder on my PC's hard drive..... C:\Users\MyLastName dot COMPANYNAME\Pictures

That's also the default location (except the part, the Pictures folder) for opening and saving
WORD files.

That looks like this:

C:\Users\mylastnameandfirstinitial.COMPANYNAME\Documents\

But everything I actually do is out on the network server, or my small portion of it, which is
NOT on my hard drive.

Most of the time this works OK although I've gotten in to the habit of saving before I insert
any graphic. Applies to both WORD and OUTLOOK, which also crashes frequently.

Would I be better off with a different default?

The Library Win 7 feature is a little baffling. I found a support.microsoft.com page that says
I can add a location from my part of the network (my very own K drive), the "technical
publications current projects" folder -- but the right-click option I'm supposed to be seeing
"Include In Library" just doesn't show up.....

What I'm told ------

For Windows 7

Add your preferred picture location to the Pictures library. To do this, follow these steps:

Click Start, and then click Computer.
Locate the folder that you want to include and right-click the folder.
Click Include in Library, and then select Pictures.
The preferred picture location can be:
A folder that is located on your computer
A folder that is located on an external hard disk drive
A folder that is located on the network
-------------------------- is not what I have available.
