How is the Normal style defined? Are the styles in each doc based on
the same base style?

Do the styles have that annoying <style> + <some formatting> in one doc
but not the other?

It is sometimes difficult to get documents from different people to have
the same formatting because people do not always format documents the
same way.

All good questions, but not the issue. I'm the only one who's edited the docs, and still Word occasionally defies me I checked on Normal, and they're the same in all docs. No, there're no "<style> + <some formatting>" -- I studiously avoid that and have char styles even for things like bold.

Until this round of look-and-feel updates, I thought I had a bullet-proof template, but I dont' after all :-(.
