One potential option in fighting the red tape may be to contact your state
senator or state assembly member. It's amazing how a polite, routine
legislative inquiry can help "find" a "lost" or "pending" request for
assistance.
A brief, factual statement of your issue and need will be very helpful to
the legislator. Include any case numbers, specific dates, etc., that may
be used to trace your paperwork.
