Surely the only 'why' is that each function, struct, array or whatever is
necessary for the application or process to function.
While there is always 'more than one way to skin a cat', I've never heard
of or seen comments that rationalise one choice over competing alternatives.
I guess what I mean is I can't really see a different between 'how' and
'why' in this context.
