Subject:InDesign variable text - after the fact From:Chris Morton <salt -dot- morton -at- gmail -dot- com> To:techwr-l -at- lists -dot- techwr-l -dot- com Date:Tue, 9 Apr 2013 16:12:25 -0700
I have a user manual, created in InDesign, that comprises several chapters.
When the book was setup, no thought was given to using a text variable to
easily update the revision number in a running footer.
I can now create a text var in a single chapter, but I'm looking for the
var to be used across the entire book. I can close all chapters and create
the text var with just the book organizer being open, but how go I get it
to propagate through the chapters?
