Iâm looking for a word to replace âaccessâ in the context of âaccess settingsâ.
I donât want to use âpermissionâ because thatâs a different concept I need (for granting specific users permission to change things).
Instead, Iâm talking about exposing objects, and the possible states are:
* Public â Home page and detail pages are completely viewable by anybody, and are searchable on Google.
* Private - Everyone can see the objectsâ home page, but not any of the detail pages, and the info is searchable on Google.
* Hidden â The info is not publically viewable (permission is specifically granted to certain viewers) and is not exposed to Google searches.
The link to get to the page/screen where you can set this state is currently labeled âPublic/Private Settingsâ. Obviously this was decided before there was the third state, Hidden.
So I want to suggest new link text along the lines of âaccess settingsâ. But I donât want to use âAccess Settingsâ because âaccessâ might be mis-read as a verb â letâs access those settings â instead of the intended noun treatment.
Thoughts?
