Sorry for your troubles, this happens from time to time. Sometimes, you just need to be patient with those lost connections. The worst that happens to me is in Gmail calendar... where I have entered a meeting notice only to lose everything on send because of a connection problem.
But like someone mentioned already, where possible, use the Google Drive sync app. It is very slow (compared to other sync apps like Box, etc.) but it rarely fails to sync desktop data with the Google Drive server.
